First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Counselling

At Routes to Resilience Counselling & Consulting, we are honoured to work alongside First Nations, Inuit, and Métis clients across Turtle Island.
While we are not Indigenous, we are a committed allies who values relationship, respect, and reciprocity in all aspects of my practice.

My Training & Commitment

  • Completed coursework through the University of Victoria’s renowned Indigenous studies and counselling programs, focusing on cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and decolonizing approaches.

  • Ongoing professional development in Indigenous history, worldviews, and wellness frameworks, including workshops on intergenerational trauma and land-based healing.

  • Regular consultation to ensure my services remain culturally grounded.

Working with NIHB & MNO

We are an approved provider through:

  • Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) for First Nations and Inuit clients

  • Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Mental Health & Addictions program

This means eligible clients can access therapy at no cost through these funding streams.

Approach to Healing

Our work integrates:

  • Trauma-informed and strengths-based therapy

  • Space for clients to include traditional practices, Elders, or community supports

  • Attention to how colonialism, identity, and belonging impact wellness

  • Respect for storytelling, ceremony, and land connections as vital parts of healing

Why Allyship Matters

Being an ally means listening deeply, acknowledging privilege, and centering Indigenous voices. We strive to create a space where clients feel safe bringing their whole selves, traditions, and truths into the counselling room.
