Clinical Consultation for Therapists & Helping Professionals
Whether you're looking for a fresh perspective on a complex case, expanding your clinical skills, or seeking collaborative support as you grow your practice, clinical consultation offers a space to think more deeply about your work.
At Routes to Resilience Counselling & Consulting, consultation is designed for therapists, social workers, counsellors, and other helping professionals who want to strengthen their clinical confidence, refine case conceptualization, and explore evidence-informed interventions within a supportive, collaborative environment.
We provide consultation that can contribute to the continuing professional development of clinicians. My consultation services are recognized for consultation purposes by both the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), where applicable to each College's requirements. Clinicians remain responsible for ensuring any consultation or professional development activities meet their individual regulatory obligations.
What Is Clinical Consultation?
Clinical consultation is a collaborative professional service that supports clinicians in strengthening their clinical reasoning, expanding treatment approaches, and reflecting on challenging cases.
Unlike formal clinical supervision, consultation does not involve legal or regulatory responsibility for your caseload or clinical decisions. You remain responsible for your clinical practice, documentation, and adherence to the standards established by your regulatory college.
My role is to act as a trusted colleague; someone who asks thoughtful questions, offers evidence-informed perspectives, and helps you consider possibilities you may not have explored.
Together, we might examine:
Case conceptualization
Treatment planning
Neurodiversity-affirming approaches
Trauma-informed interventions
Attachment dynamics
Ethical decision-making
Therapeutic ruptures
Clinical boundaries
Documentation considerations
Differential diagnoses and intersecting presentations
Working within scope of competence
If concerns arise regarding client safety, ethical practice, or scope of competence, I will address them directly and collaboratively. Consultation is intended to strengthen ethical, competent practice while respecting your professional autonomy.
